Solstice
This collection of work was created for the Leigh Art Trail 2022.

Inspired by estuary walks around late Spring and childhood memories of this magical time of year.
The paintings were created around the time of the Summer Solstice, mainly outside of the studio in the open air. Natural brushes formed from foraged plants were used in the process of making these paintings, enabling me to create unpredictable and exciting marks. Fragments of plants can be seen embedded into the surface of some of the paintings, these were random happenings that tell the story of how the work was created.
Many of this collection were sold during the art trail in September, however, you can view the remaining pieces in person at The Squeeze Cafe in Leigh on Sea.
Each painting tells it own story- from 'Day Trip' evoking memories of childhood trips to the coast to 'From The Marshes' which reflects the intense deep colours and textures witnessed on my daily walks.
