More About Me.

I am a mixed media artist living in Leigh on Sea, Essex. I create work in a variety of scales, using mainly inks, collage and acrylics. In my work, I aim to capture how it feels to be out in nature, rather than depicting how a landscape looks in real life. Every painting is an ongoing dialogue and take weeks of deliberation, which is why I often work in pairs, creating paintings that can happily sit together.

Recently my work has become more textural as I've been experimenting with new methods and techniques. I've always been inspired by nature and walk daily along the Thames Estuary with my dog, Vito. I take lots of photographs and sketches and then use these back in the studio to inform my artwork. I create my own collage papers using fluid paints and stencils, I also use vintage ephemera and Japanese papers to add detail and history to my work. I love to incorporate experimental mark making within the layers of my paintings, often using plants and hand made brushes.

I have an exciting year ahead in 2022, with my first solo exhibition at Create 98 in May, in my hometown of Leigh on Sea. The exhibition will be entitled 'Foraged Marks' and will focus experimental drawings I have been making using plants and natural brushes.  In September, I am taking part in the ever growing Leigh Art Trail and I am currently working on a series of abstract landscape paintings for this exhibition.
