Why We Need Art in Our Homes

Art isn't just about filling up empty walls; it brings so much more to our living spaces and our lives. Here’s why having art at home is a game-changer:

  • Human Touch: Our homes are full of machine-made devices, but art adds a human element. You can see the artist's effort, time, and skill in every piece, making the room feel alive. Those little imperfections and unique marks remind us there's a person behind the work.

  • Self-Expression: Art is a fantastic way to express yourself. The pieces you choose tell a story about who you are and what you value. It’s a great conversation starter when friends come over.

  • Emotional Connection: Art can stir up strong emotions, whether it’s a memory or a feeling. It’s comforting to know that others have felt the same way. Art helps us reflect on our own emotions and thoughts.

  • New Perspectives: Sometimes, art challenges our views and makes us a bit uncomfortable. That’s a good thing! It pushes us to think differently and see the world in new ways. Having such art at home is a daily nudge to keep an open mind.

  • Inspiration: Seeing someone else’s passion can be super inspiring. Art reminds us of what’s possible and can motivate us to chase our own dreams.

  • Courage: Displaying art can be a bold move. It encourages us to take risks and be vulnerable, just like the artists who put themselves out there.

  • Comfort: Art makes our homes more cozy and enjoyable. It can be a focal point, complete a room, and show off our interests and ideals. Living with art brings more life into our spaces.

  • Finding Your Art: There are plenty of tools to help you find art that resonates with you- looking at instagram or pinterest. On most artists websites you can filter by price and size. Try to discover local artists to support your community. Where I live in Leigh on Sea in Essex, there is the Leigh Art Trail which is a huge annual event. Many areas have open studios and art markets, these are all worth exploring if you are thinking of collecting!

How can I help?

I have an app I use that can help you visualise how a painting can look in your home. Just send me a photo of the wall space and dimensions and I can superimpose one of my paintings onto it.

I offer a try before you buy if you live locally.

I can arrange a video call to show you the painting and answer any questions you may have.
