Of Light and Layers Studios is a quiet meeting place – a shared space for exploration between two artists Claire Hankey and Petra Blacklock drawn to the subtle language of nature, texture and memory.Through layered compositions that blend Claire’s abstract paintings with Petra’s still life photography, we create works that sit between disciplines. Veils of fabric, fleeting botanicals, brushstrokes, shadow and light, all come together through a process of multiple exposure photography and slow, intuitive making. Together, we have created two collections of unique fine art prints using multi exposure photography, combining original art, plant forms and layered surfaces. These poetic images invite contemplation and quiet narratives.
The Synthesis Collection - 2024; Artworks that combine the beauty of botanicals nestled within sections of abstract paintings. Poetic and ghost like, this collection invites curiosity and echoes the fragility of nature and the passing of time.
The Veiled Collection - 2025; Our current collection brings together veiled botanicals, lace, organza, shadow and abstract mark-making. It’s an exploration of concealment, memory and gentle connection.
